“The sons of Maharana Udai Singh”
In some texts, the number of sons of Maharana Udai Singh has been stated as 25 and in some, 32 and more have been mentioned.
According to information received from different texts like Veervinod, Muhanaut Nainasi Re Khyat, a total of 34 names have been found, which are as follows :-
1) The Great Maharana Pratap
2) Kunwar Shakti Singh :- His descendants are called Shaktawat. His maternal grandfather was Solanki Rao Prithviraj Sundrasenot of Toda.
3) Kunwar Veeramdev / Vikram :- He supported Maharana Pratap. Kunwar Veeramdev got the estate of Ghosunda. His descendants are in places like Hamirgarh, Khairabad, Sanwar, Amba, Mahuva etc.
4) Kunwar Jagmal :- Jagmal was born in 1554 AD. Maharana Udai Singh gave him throne, then the nobles removed him from the throne and crowned Maharana Pratap. Jagmal was married to the daughter of Rao Man singh Deora of Sirohi. Jagmal supported the Mughal emperor Akbar. In 1583, Jagmal was killed in the battle of Dattani against Rao Surtan Deora of Sirohi, Maharana Pratap’s principal ally.
Sons of Jagmal :- 1) Ram singh 2) Shyam Singh :- His son was Manohar. 3) Roop Singh :- His maternal grandfather was Devidas Jaitawat. 4) Rudra singh
5) Kunwar Sagar Singh :- He was born in 1556 AD. He supported the Mughal emperor Akbar and Jahangir. Sagar Singh had built a Varaha temple in Pushkar at a cost of one lakh, which Jahangir demolished and dumped the idol in the pond. Sagar Singh held the fort of Chittorgarh for 7 years. When Maharana Amar singh got the fort, Sagar Singh committed suicide in the Mughal court.
Sons of Sagar Singh :- 1) Indra singh :- He was the nephew of Shekhawats. Indra singh died in while his father was still alive. 2) Man singh :- The sons of Man singh were Hari singh, Mokam Singh and Aaskaran. 3) Mohan Singh :- He committed suicide. His sons were Barisal, Raghunath and Madan singh. 4) Hariram :- He went to Bikaner Maharaja Rai singh Rathore and stayed there. His son was Fateh Singh. 5) Jagat singh :- He went to Vitthaldas Gaur. When Vitthaldas was fighting in a battle, Jagat singh got martyred while fighting on his behalf.
6) Kunwar Agar :- He supported Mughal Emperor Jahangir.
7) Kunwar Pachan / Panchayan :- His descendants are in Julola, Khajuri, Haajivaas, Panchayanpur.
8) Kunwar Simha / Saah :- His descendants are in Chhapred. He was the maternal uncle of King Jai Singh Kachwaha of Amer. Kunwar Saah’s son was Mathuradas.
9) Kunwar Mansingh :- He participated in the Haldighati war.
10) Kunwar Kanha :- He was the niece of Karamchand Parmar. Kunwar Kanha attained heroism in the Haldighati war. His descendants are called Kanawat.
11) Kunwar Kalyanmal :- He got martyred in Haldighati war.
12) Kunwar Shardul Singh :- He was the grandchild of Maharajot Khinchi.
13) Kunwar Rudra singh :- His descendants are in Sirohi. A person or ruler named Surjan killed Kunwar Rudra singh. Kunwar Rudra singh was the grandchild of Rajarana Jhala.
14) Kunwar Naga / Nagaj Singh :- His descendants are called Nagawat in Malwa. He was the grandchild of Kalyanmal Jait Singhhot of Bikaner.
15) Kunwar Jait Singh :- He was the grandchild of Rajarana Jhala.
16) Kunwar Jaswant Singh :- He used to live in Jodhpur. He was given the estate of Sinla, including 12 villages in Sojat. In 1616, for some reason, he left Jodhpur and lived at Mahabat Khan’s palace in Burhanpur. After quarreling with Mahabat Khan, he came back to Jodhpur. Then the Jodhpur Maharaja gave him the estate of Dholhara with 11 villages. Mahabat Khan sent a message to the Jodhpur Maharaja and said that do not keep Jaswant Singh with you, then the Jodhpur Maharaja sent Jaswant Singh away from Marwar. Jaswant Singh’s son Sabal singh was given the estate of Kurada by Jodhpur Maharaja with 4 villages in Jalore.
17) Kunwar Shyam Singh :- Haridas Jhala killed him in Tajne. Shyamsingh’s sons were Sahib and Madho Singh. Madho Singh left Mewar during the reign of Maharana Jagatsingh and went to the Mughal court.
18) Kunwar Surtana :- He used to live here in Kalyanmal Jayamalot. These were the grandchildren of Maharajot Khinchi.
(19-34) :- Kunwar Naitsingh, Kunwar Machhal, Kunwar Lunkaran Singh, Kunwar Kishan Singh, Kunwar Sujaan Singh, Kunwar Parshuraam/ Ramji, Kunwar Durjan Singh, Kunwar Bhojraj, Kunwar Saheb Khan, Kunwar Bhavsingh, Kunwar Berisal, Kunwar Rai singh, Kunwar Chanda singh, Kunwar Khan Singh, Kunwar Mahesh das, Kunwar Sultan Singh
(Among these, Sultan Singh, Khan Singh and Saheb Khan are Muslim names, but these names are also written in the texts).
