“23 Queens of Maharana Udai Singh”

1) Maharani Jayawanta Bai :- She was the daughter of Akhairaj Songara Chauhan of Jalore. Her only son was The Great Maharana Pratap. Maharana Udai Singh used to consult this queen for political purposes.

2) Rani Sajjabai Solankini :- She was the second queen of Maharana Udai Singh. Rani Sajjabai was the daughter of Solanki Rao Prithviraj Surtanot of Toda. This queen had 2 sons :- Shakti Singh, Veeramdev. This queen built Prahlada Rai’s temple on the sail of Udaisagar lake.

3) Rani Dheerbai Bhatiyani :- She was the daughter of Maharaval Lunkaran Bhati of Jaisalmer. Rani Dheerbai was the real sister of the famous Ruthi Rani (Rani Umade) of Marwar. Rani Dhirbai had 5 sons: Jagmal, Sagar, Agar, Pachan, Simha. The 3 sons of these queens (Jagmal, Sagar, Agar) supported the Mughals. Rani Dheer Bai was the beloved queen of Maharana Udai Singh. Rani Dheerbai built Bhatiyani Bazaar in Udaipur.

4) Rani Veerabai Jhali :- She was the daughter of Jait Singh Jhala of Khairwa, whom Rao Maldeo of Marwar wanted to marry, but on the request of Jait Singh Jhala, Maharana Udai Singh married Rani Veerabai. The marriage of this queen will be written further in Maharana Udai Singh’s section. This queen built a stepwell in the Chittorgarh fort, which is called Jhalibav.

5) Rani Raajbai Solankini

6) Rani Karameti Bai Rathore :- She was from Marwar. Maharana Udai Singh married her in 1569.

9) Rani Baijilaal Kanwar Rathore –daughter of Jodh Singh.

“17 daughters and sons-in-law of Maharana Udai Singh”

Some of the 17 names are as follows :-

1) Likhmibai

2) Surajde :- She was married to Rao Chandrasen (son of Rao Maldeo) of Marwar on 23 April 1560.

3) Jaswantde :- She was married to Raja Rai singh of Bikaner in 1563. She was the first wife of King Rai singh, so she became the Queen of Bikaner.

4) Chain Kanwar :- She was married to Kunwar Maldeo of Jaisalmer.

5) Har Kanwar :- She was married to Maharao Udai Singh Deora of Sirohi.

6) Amar Kanwar :- She was married to Ram singh (son of Rao Maldeo of Marwar). Maharana Udai Singh gave Ram singh the location of Kelwa along with 100 villages as estate.

7) Baijiraaj ? :- She was married to Mansingh Jhala of Delwara. Mansingh Jhala was the son of Jait Singh and brother of Rani Veerbai Jhali.

8) Baijiraaj ? :- She was married to Shalivahan Tanwar (son of King Ramshah Tanwar) of Gwalior.

9) Baijiraaj ? :- She was married to Prithviraj Rathore of Bikaner (son of Rao Kalyan Singh). Prithviraj Rathore was the son of the real sister of Maharani Jaiwanta Bai. Prithviraj Rathore was given the estate of Gagaron by Akbar. In this fort, he composed the famous book ‘Veli Kisan Rukmini Ri’.

(Many historians tell Kirandevi, the daughter of Maharaja Shakti Singh, to be married to Prithviraj, who is said to have set foot on Akbar’s chest in Akbar’s Meena Bazaar. All these things are imaginary. The historian has not mentioned such an incident. One such incident is prevalent in Gujarat, whose story is also the same.)
